Nowadays, in the age of social media, we often feel fortunate to have access to endless information, knowledge on any subject that comes to mind, just a click away.
While running errands, I usually put on YouTube and listen to podcasts. Each time it is a new topic, politics, history, health and fitness, parenting. I try to take the best from social media and use it in a meaningful way. I cannot deny that it helps us greatly in our lives if we know how and when to use it.
Kids these days hold an entire encyclopedia in their hands. As long as they use it wisely, they can learn about almost anything. That said, social media use should always be under parental supervision for children under 16.
Today’s subject is my morning routine drink. After listening to a couple of podcasts, especially from my favorite Dr. Mindy Pelz, I learned about collagen and how we gradually lose it as we age. One of the most popular and affordable sources to replenish it is bone broth.
So, I started simple, two tablespoons of bone broth with a squeeze of lemon in hot water, every morning before coffee.
Let me share some of the benefits. Bone broth is rich in protein, potassium, and sodium. It contains amino acids that strengthen the immune system, improve digestion, and support a healthy gut lining. Not to mention the glow it gives your skin, the support it provides for joints and bones, and the steady morning energy. Most importantly for me, it helps suppress appetite. Since I have been practicing intermittent fasting and limiting my eating window to six hours, this drink has helped me comfortably skip breakfast and have my first meal around 1 pm. If taken in the evening, it can also calm the body and support deep, restful sleep.
That is how my journey with this magical drink began. After a few days, I got used to the taste, and then I started experimenting.
After reading about chia seeds, I thought, why not sprinkle some into my broth? If it does not help, it will not harm, and I actually enjoy the taste. Once chia seeds absorb liquid and reach that gel like texture, they increase the feeling of fullness and reduce appetite. They also provide extra support for collagen. Packed with fiber, omega 3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and protein, they help lower cholesterol, reduce inflammation, support blood sugar control, and provide lasting energy.

Continuing my little experiment, hopefully without causing an explosion, I added ground flax seeds. They are especially beneficial for supporting hormone balance, particularly estrogen, which is important for women in what I like to call the age of wisdom.
Then came a pinch of turmeric. After reading that turmeric’s full benefits are unlocked when paired with black pepper, I added a pinch of that too. I told you, I am experimenting. I truly believe in natural healing and in the wisdom of our ancestors.
This has now become my morning ritual, something I look forward to every day. Sitting quietly with my mug, reading my book while the house is still asleep, when silence itself becomes the highlight of the moment.
A couple of months in, I started noticing a difference. Friends began asking if I had done any facial treatments. My skin looked smoother, more radiant. My gut felt happier, less bloated. Soon enough, some of my friends joined what we now jokingly call the broth club, chasing the same results.
It has been a year now, and I am not planning to stop.
We live in an age of endless information, but the greatest knowledge lies in learning what truly nourishes your own body. My morning ritual, the book, the quiet, and the broth, is my way of using today’s knowledge to reconnect with ancient wisdom.
Whether it is bone broth or another healthy habit, I hope you use the tools at your fingertips to take care of yourself.
It is never too late to start glowing, my amigos.
