The birds have left the nest, abandoning their safe habitat for new adventures. Our children, our pride and joy, are stepping into the world. For moms, it’s a mix of overwhelming glory and heart-pounding fear. The day arrives when our kids are ready to leave behind the days of pampering and face life’s challenges. It’s terrifying to see those who were once babies now venturing into the jungles of life, believing they are ready yet unaware of the harsh truths they might encounter. But we, the moms, will always be here to say, “We love you, but go back to the jungle. You are strong and can survive and strive for your dreams.”
When we thought the nest was finally empty and we could rest and pursue our dreams, we realized there was still one more “baby.” Wait a minute, who does this belong to? We don’t remember having more kids or adopting any. Oh, right, it’s our husband. Oh, shoot, that one’s not going anywhere. Breathe! Breathe! BREATHE!
